✓ Do's
- Always check MOT history on the DVLA website before viewing
- Request full service history and verify stamps
- Run a HPI check — confirm no outstanding finance or write-offs
- Test drive in different conditions — town and dual carriageway
- Check for rust underneath, in wheel arches and door sills
- Inspect all panel gaps — uneven gaps suggest accident damage
- Ask to see the V5C logbook and check it matches the seller
- Pay by bank transfer or card — never large amounts in cash
- Get a receipt with full details of the sale in writing
